LaMuff Production Stills _ Schindler House _ Bona Vista Lounge

Took some production stills for LaMuff’s new music video for “Gold Lamé”.  As you can imagine, everything was gold.  Even the bagels.

LaMuff’s Monica Howe is a fellow Echo Park Time Bank member, who contacted me to help her out, in exchange for time dollars.  Cha-ching!  The shoot took place at Bar 1642, which is owned by fellow time bank member, Liz!

Right before Monica poured gold paint on herself.  Glorious.

Then biked over to West Hollywood to visit the Schindler/Kings Road House by Rudolph Schindler.  One of the architectural gems of LA.

Then Red Lined it back to Downtown LA for a birthday celebration in honor of Justice Laub at the Bona Vista Lounge on top of the Westin Bonaventure hotel.  You can’t tell from this photo, but trust me when i say that the lounge rotates.  Really.  Slowly.

silver lake stairs hike

Avishay, Marya and I partook in a small hike, lead by the Big Parade, through the staircases of Silver Lake, starting with the Music Box Steps, site of the classic Laurel & Hardy 1932 comedy “The Music Box”.

L on Descanso -> R Stairs Down -> L Sunset Blvd. -> R. Edgecliffe Dr.

Corner of Edgecliffe Dr. & Griffith Park Blvd.

L Effie St. -> R Lucile Ave.

Pass by R. M. Schindler’s 1926 Manola Court Apartments.  One of my favorites.

R Landa St. Stairs Up

L Micheltorena St. -> R Rock St. -> Redcliff St. -> L Landa St. -> Stairs Down

R Redesdale Ave.

Then we ran into this little guy…

We spent some time with him, chatting.  By the time we continued on the hike, we lost the rest of the group.  Instead of trying to catch up, the three of us decided to get drinks and food at La Parrilla on Sunset.  It also happened to be Mexican Independence Day.

Mexican Elvis Serenade.  Sold.

After four beers and some enchiladas, I biked over to greet Jamie on her annual LA excursion.  Macaroni ensued.

shindler’s mackey apartments, bloom cafe

scattered showers in the distance.  the day prior, it was a sunny 100 degrees.  la needed a shower.

headed out to the west side with isaac to meet up with cesar at the closing reception of Fractional Systems. Garage Project II, a mak center exhibition at the mackey apartments by schindler.  unfortunately, we weren’t allowed in the actual residences, just the back garage area, where each bay had an installation.  there were 5 garages, with an installation in each.  upstairs was a project room with 4 videos.

after the reception, headed over to bloom cafe on pico.  i ordered the rosemary comte cheese & potato pizza, with a caprese kalamata olives, basil & arugula
 pizza, and tandori chicken on quinoa & lentils with tomato apple chutney.  i usually apprehensive about ordering pizza at boutique restaurants; i don’t usually let the fancy ingredients hide the fact that the pizzas aren’t usually filling.  but this pizza was worth it.  no tomato sauce.
