LA Marathon feat. Byron

My little brother, Byron, ran the LA Marathon this year. My parents and I dropped him off at the starting line @ Dodger Stadium, just in time for the sunrise!

The marathon started at 7:30am, and Byron’s expected time was around 4 hours. My parents and I had some time to kill. So we decided to head down to Chinatown to get some breakfast.

Overlooking Los Angeles State Historic Park after a night of rain.

It ended up that none of the dim sum establishments were open at 8AM. So we went to Pho 87, which I find to be one of the most authentic Vietnamese restaurants in the city and the only one open in that block of town.

The best Iced Red Bean Drink in LA. We were the first and only customers that morning.

Pho 87 is located right next door to Human Resources, an art gallery which used to be a kung-fu movie theater. My parents used to come here on dates when they lived in Long Beach. I never knew this, but the signs outside of the gallery on Cottage Home Street were the movie marquees, announcing the current and following movie screenings at the theater.

At the finish line. Byron came in right under 4 hours and was beaten by this guy on a wheelchair.
