Celebrated Rachel’s birthday with a traditional food-centric gathering at the Manzanita House. On the menu: Apple Cider Donuts, Pork Chili, Cornbread, Nutella Bacon Rice Krispies, Potato Gratin, Cabbage Salad, Bacon Brussels Sprouts & Asparagus, and Bacon Baked Beans.

silver lake hills hike
excursion through the hills of Silver Lake and Echo Park to the Corallitas Red Car right-of-way. 5 miles. > 500 steps.
Starting Point: Materials & Applications. Ascend stairs at 1612 Silver Lake Blvd. (22 steps up) -> R Occidental -> L @ Stairs (178 steps up) -> L Silver Wood Terrace -> L Effie -> R Fanning -> R Silver Lake Blvd
-> R Rockford -> R Cove (164 steps up) -> L Apex -> L Glendale Blvd -> R Loma Vista (183 steps up, 166 down, 1/4 mile long)
many of these houses are only accessible via these stairways; no driveways or “front yards”; just stairs. we crossed paths with the mailman, who has to climb these steps, everyday to reach the residences.

Down slope to Fletcher. Up stairs behind Home Restaurant (56 steps up)
Follow trail to Waverly (156 steps up) -> L Farwell -> L Locksley
-> L at end of street, trail behind church to Fletcher. Cross Glendale Blvd and turn right -> L @ 2617 Glendale Blvd. (185 steps up) -> R Ivanhoe -> L Lakewood -> L Armstrong -> R Silver Lake Blvd
