Supper Social: The Last Supper _ Echo Park Lake

The first official Supper Social was hosted in my tiny studio apartment in Silver Lake on a hot evening on August 18, 2011. Even after almost 3 years, I’m still amazed everyday by this community that we are all a part of. It’s been a pleasure watching connections and friendships form, and I hope that you all continue that spirit of engagement and courage that I have come to respect and admire about you all. This city needs you!

Come out for a day-time, picnic edition of the Supper Social before I head off to Pittsburgh for a year, or two.  We will be not only enjoying the beautifully renovated Echo Park Lake, but also celebrating this little community that we have created. #losangelesbeautiful

"Bohemianism thrives on adversity.  You have to have a concentration of people practicing their arts, people with superior endowments who don’t necessarily fit into society and who are in fact often engaged in rebellions against convention, creating a symbiotic society where not only can they go and eat at each others’ houses when they’re hungry, but where they can also spark each other and be each others’ critical audience."Jake Zeitlin

Supper Social: Winter Solstice

image

The Winter Solstice. Not only the shortest day of the year, but also the traditional time when the majority of wine and beer made during the fall was finally fermented and ready for drinking.  The reversal of the Sun’s ebbing presence also symbolized a new beginning, the rebirth of the sun gods.

In honor of the Winter Solstice, I hosted a Bruce’s Buddies Supper Social.  And with the eminent Mayan Apocalypse fast approaching, I suggested a white-elephant gift exchange.  Kelly [happily] ended up with a box of Nerds.

Supper Social : BBQ Edition

Threw a Supper Social in honor of the summer solstice, the longest day of the year.  What better way to celebrate the Los Angeles summer than with a BBQ in the bountiful yard of an old victorian house in Angelino Heights.  Thanks to buddy Kathleen Miles for hosting.

The Summer Solstice.  Not only the longest day of the year, but also the traditional magic hour for meeting new lovers.

Supper Social : Leap Day!

Leap Day. The extra magical day for you to take chances. “Real life is for March.  Nothing on leap day counts”.  So I threw a Supper Social in honor of Leap Day 2012, hosted by John Isaac Watters in Echo Park.  Lots of new friends!

Launched Bruce’s Buddies with a Supper Social on the roof.  Cultivating community, one potluck at a time.

To many more!
